Vizitsa is a meticulously preserved traditional settlement. The renovated manor houses, many of which have been reformed into excellent guesthouses, the stone built churches of the 18thcentury, the cobbled roads and the old fountains compose a living museum of local architecture.
The village is located on the wooded southwest slopes of Mount Pelion, between Milies and Pinacates, at an altitude of 500meters. The distance from Volos is 30 Kilometers.
The view towards the Pagasitikos bay is breathtaking.
Travelers may walk through shady cobbled paths to visit the monastery of Agios Ioannis (St John) and the Basilica of Zoodochu Pigis, or they may rest at the village’s piazza enjoying the local cuisine and sweets at the picturesque taverns and cafes, shaded by plane trees, the oldest of which is said to be 600 years old.
Following longer routes through foresty paths, travelers will head towards the settlement of Argireika passing by the waterfall or will walk to Milies and the train station where the legendary “Mutzuris” arrives.
